Well for some reason that I can’t fathom loads of people decided last Sunday was the day to brush off their racing shoes and head out into the freezing tundra like conditions in lycra and spandex and test the winter training. Neil ‘the wippet’McDermott tackled the Grizly in under 3 hours – this is very fast given the view that the Grizly is the equivalent of a road marathon (I’d have thought any sensible person would have been put off by the name of the race). Culvin and Dave Pratten also competed posting times around the 3.20 mark proving that they are both in fairly good nick.  Clare McD was off in Salisbury nailing down a pb in the 10 mile road race – great stuff. And in case there weren’t enough running events on at the same time, Mandy ran the 20 miler in the New Forest in an excellent 3.20 as she starts to wind up the prep for ironman Wales in September.

Meanwhile, Chris Weeks was racing in the National Duathlon Championships at the Dambuster and finishing 7th in his age group preparing for his assault on Ironmen Texas in a few weeks time.

And finally onto my exploits as I nearly froze and had to endure a couple of substandard coffees to support Fran and Guy who were racing in the Newbury Duathlon. Fran won (first win of the season) and Guy put in a good performance. Just need to get a bit of bike bling on his bike now…..
