Awesome racing at Castle Court School today – well done everybody! The sun was shining and there was an air of expectation at the start of the 2nd Tripurbeck junior duathlon this winter. First up were the tristart athletes. Tom H put in a solid first run before blowing away the opposition on the bike to finish in a course record time of 5.41. He was closely followed by Tripurbeck’s Callum M who took a huge chunk off his personal best – must be all the training! In third spot was Aurelio C putting in some very fast run splits. In the girls race, Clarice A put in a great run split and put clear daylight between herself and the field, finishing 1st in a new course record time of 5.43. Annie B from Tripurbeck came in second despite a tumble on the bike and Olivia Lovell snapped up 3rd in her first race.

The Tristar 1 race was billed as a battle between national Biathlon finalist Jed S and last time’s winner Jack M both from Tripurbeck. The race lived up to expectations with the 2 boys neck and neck going into T1. But  it was Jed who pulled away to get a slight lead on the bike and once he had his nose in front there was no way back for Jack. Being the competitor he is though, Jack still put in the fastest 2nd run split of the day. George B was 3rd, again smashing his personal best to hold off George R who just gave himself too much to do despite a great bike split. In the girls race, we had a topsy turvey battle with Harriet J coming from 3rd place into T1 to lead off the bike and win in a time of 11.14. Hannah S also came through to take 2nd with Alexandra L 3rd.

The Tristar 2 race was dominated by Jack B in the absence of his mate Henry and last time’s winner who were both competing in the Southwest x-crountry championships. Having said that, Jack put in a course record for the first run split and the bike and only missed the record by 4 seconds - could be another great race next time those guys get together! Oliver J came in 2nd with the 3rd spot in the boys going to Chris R. Tripurbeck’s Mikayla C smashed the course record for the girl’s race finishing 2nd overall! Abbie H also beat the old course record to come in 2nd.

We had a great time and we hope everyone enjoyed the event – please leave your comments on the website and we look forward to seeing you all at the Sika Trail Duathlon on April 10th. Great racing!
