Two races but I can categorically state that neither involved a single duck billed platypus (just for Carl and Simon)

Cosmo and Rocco Craven and Lucy Brain put their road bikes to the test in the junior drafting tri at Bowood last Sunday. It’s a little tricky to decipher the results as they are not in order and don’t mention anything to do with swimming, biking or running but it looks to me that Cosmo had excellent swim and run splits and posted a really good time whilst Lucy won the TS3 girls category, leading from start to finish. Great stuff.

Meanwhile Fran and Liz were displaying their matching guru tt bikes in the Bustinskins Weymouth standard distance event although there was nothing matching about Fran’s bike and helmet combo, with a pink/blue colur clash that had us all running for our backdated fashion magazines from the 1980s (did I say that out loud?). As is put if by the afforementioned assault on the senses, a decent if chilly swim led to a stunning display of how not to mount a bike out of transition and by the time they left, the two TriPurbeck athletes were placed 5th and 6th in the ladies race. No matter, our half-pint heroin ripped up the bike course posting a time only 2 minutes slower than the fastest men (and that included the pfaff) to climb to 2nd place by T2. Liz also stormed the bike and left transition for the run in 3rd place overall, only to be passed on the run by a sneaky teenager, but she still won her age group by a distance. Fran reeled in the girl in front and ended up winning by a clear margin.
