It’s a good job it’s nearly the end of the winter running season as I have officially run out of superlatives. So here’s a brief summary of the last couple of weeks achievements from the rather impressive TriPurbeck crew…….

Neil McDermot won the Bustinskin Portland Marathon – yep won……. by 15 minutes – top drawer! Looking to better his sub-3hr London run in April so watch out for that. Chris Kelly polished off his running shoes to post an impressive 1hr34min finish in the very hilly New Forest half marathon finishing 10th overall.

Juniors Serena O’Connor and Sam Brown were racing at the national under 17 cross-country Championships and despite still not being 100%, Sam finished an excellent 49th. Serena, however, capped a quite brilliant cross-country season with an unbelievable 7th place in a field of 200 plus …. and remember, she’s still only 15 so has another year in this category!

Next up was Claude, racing at Eton Lake sprint Duathlon. Yes that’s a duathlon people – at least he’s manged to get two sports in. Whether his excellent 19th place finished was due to his improved running and biking or the additional of some serious colour coordination in his kit (see photo) is debatable. Either way it was an excellent race and he’s looking forward to getting in the pool…. I’m sure that’s what he said :-)
