Not to be outdone by the ladies, Derek posted a great result finishing 2nd in his age group at the Hart Sprint Triathlon on Monday. Here is his race report.

A warm sunny Monday morning, at least by the late start time of 9am for the first swimmers!  A fairly large field of 450 entrants of all abilities, including Lucy Chittenden representing Farnham tri club.  My first race since last September and I felt the benefits from working with Tripurbeck.  I still have work to do on my swim (about 350th!!) but work on the bike over the winter certainly helped (about 100th) and my legs felt OK on transition to the run.  I was pleased that I had no trouble from my achilles  although the run was across mown fields with two styles to cross and a small, but muddy, stream so times were not quick  (about 250th).  My time of 1hr17mins was enough to get me second place in my age group (the winner was a 1hr10min ringer) if they hadn’t listed me as M50 and put me down as a TVT member – surely they don’t bother to read the entry forms!
Anyway, a good outing and I’m looking forwards to the next event, perhaps Salisbury on May 15th.
