First Tri of the season for several of TriPurbeck’s finest at the Osprey sprint this morning and we saw some excellent racing – particularly from 3 of our juniors, 2 of which were competing in an adult race for the first time.  There was a great atmosphere as is always the case with Bustinskin events and quick times despite the dodgy Dorset weather.

Sam Brown flew round the course in 1hr2min finishing 11th overall and first junior – that’s with no tri bars and definitely not the kind of timetrial bling on offer from most of his closest opponents! Add to that the second fastest run split of the day and the fact that he’s only 14 and still a junior for another 3 years……. stunning performance.

Serena O’Connor also produced an excellent race with a fantastic 5th place overall in the ladies race and of course 1st junior. She also had the 3rd fastest run split and looked like she could have carried on for another 5k! Lily Burnet was the youngest athlete in the race and raced brilliantly to come in 2nd junior girl behind Serena. A bit of stitch trouble on the run cost her a bit of time but an excellent swim and bike all bodes very well for the future! All in all, the juniors were amazing!

Dave Anderson put in another great early season performance clocking 1hr8min and second in his age category, Simon O’Connor racing for TriPurbeck for the first time,  had an excellent bike and run – definitely need to go to work in the pool…. and James Sealey posted a very good 1hr10min time in his first tri for 17 years.

Great racing and massive thanks to Mark Steen and Bustinskin  for the race and their continued support of TriPurbeck which is very much appreciated. By the way, the Gruffalo didn’t feature in the placings.

Yours truly is opening the racing account for the season next week – not going to tell you where though – someone might look up the results………..
