The mantle of ‘Who’s the second or possibly 3rd or 4th best swimmer in the club’ was up for grabs at the Bustinskins Big Cove Swim today. There’s no doubt who’s number 1 but Justin Phelps-Matthews was not on the start line, and neither was the Franster – preferring the dry land option today. Well 3.8k is a blinkin long way in my book and Richie just pipped Liz this time. Liz said she came in on Richie’s feet, Richie said it was about 15 sec. The official timing said 6 so we will go with that! Phil (Liz’s husband) also got wet completing the 1.2mile option in 44 minutes.

Meanwhile, in Swanage, father and son combo Charlie and Cosmo took on the RNLI Lighthouse loop 5k. In Charlie’s words……’Good news and bad news. I came 9th out of 45 runners in around 24 minutes, but Cosmo came a fantastic 6th. (bad news being he has beaten me again)’. And in Cornwall – yes TriPurbeck is spreading far and wide! – mum and son combo Clare and Jack did the RNLI 10k amd 5k respectively running along Gwithian beach in tough windy conditions – Clare’s first 10k in 61min and Jack posted a great 27min time.
