I possibly shouldn’t have chosen that headline as it has a bit of horse about it. Oh well. Some top racing news from last weekend which included the latest installment from Fran’s return from ankle surgery as well as some great running performances.

First up Terri and Dave Brown raced in the park run. Particularly good to see Terri on the start line and both raced really well with Dave smashing his pb with an 18min14sec run despite a tough interval set at the club session the night before! Now that we have firmly established that Dave and I are exactly the same age, I better get my running shoes out.

So on to Aintree….. no that’s not right…. Goodwood. Not the horse place though, the motor circuit. Not cars though, bikes and feet. So Fran upped the distance as her rehabilitation continues at the Goodwood Duathlon. This is an excellent race by the way – traffic free venue, really good spectating, well organised and good value. The format was 4km run/40km bike/8km run. So the strategy for Fran was easy into the first 4k to warm the ankle up, solid bike and even paced second run. 15min45sec later she was back – 2nd at the end of the first run just a few seconds from the lead. It was also a good opportunity to put the Planetx EXO3 through its paces for the first time and…… it shifts. Not too shabby 1hr4min 40km tt effort (which Fran afterwards described as a controlled effort) put her in a 3min lead off the bike and a 35min even paced 8k to finish meant a 1hr56min finish and a first win since the surgery in a very competitive race with the girl in second just a minute back at the end.

Plenty more racing to come this weekend….. all the news to follow.
