That’s not a title I was ever expecting to write.

Tripurbeck all over the place last weekend – apart from Guy of course who was picking out some extendable wing mirrors.

First up and unreasonably early on a Saturday morning were Lily and Sam racing in the supersprint at the Salty Sea Dog round 3 race. Both racing against adults they came 2nd (Sam) and 3rd respectively – brilliant!!

James Sealey finished the GU energy project middle distance in an excellent 5hr27min in his first half distance – nicely poised for Wales in Sept. Jane King took the honours in the middle though with 3rd overall and (of course) winning her age category. Scott Robinson came an excellent 13th on the sprint in his first race under the tripurbeck banner and Justin announced a top drawer return to racing – winning the sprint overall!

Simon and serena were off racing further afield in Wokingham (somewhere near Dorchester I think) Serena was up to her tricks again with a brilliant 3rd place finish in the ladies race…. Here’s the race report from Simon:

As mentioned, we had a good time at the inaugural Wokingham Sprint Tri at Dinton Pastures country park on Saturday. A deep water start of 120 competitors began by ploughing through the weed infested lake on a simple out and back 750m course.  We then had a 600m run up the stony path (glad I wore my trainers!) to transition. Out on the bike for 20k through mostly quite country roads with not too much elevation change therefore quite a fast course.  Well signposted and marshalled.  The run was a single circuit around the lakes of the country park so nice to be off the tarmac and very scenic!  Serena did really well, clocking average times for the swim and bike before her customary ‘roadrunner’ performance to take 3rd placed female by 12 seconds and finishing only 6 seconds behind the 2nd place lady. If only the run had been 300m longer!! Serena was 20th overall in 1hour 17mins.  I did my usual thing of letting everyone get a head start during the swim before catching half of them up during the rest of the race!

Lots more to come to get up to date – there will be club sessions between the 12th and 21st August so watch this space……..
