TriPurbeck investigators were out in force this weekend after several people/things have been referred to as the infamous ‘Pocket Rocket’. James Sealey was so intrigued that he opted out of Laura’s first appearance on Mother’s day (congratulations by the way :-) ) and ran 13 miles around Weymouth in a shade over 1hr40min to see if he could track down any info. Liz Goldsack was also on the lookout and posted a 1hr46min time and 4th in her age group – cool.

Serena, who has been referred to as the ‘Pocket Rocket’ decided to escape the attention by joining Sam, Jed and Lola and the rest of the Dorset squad at the National Club cross-country Champs in Blackburn (before you ask – nope not a clue). Serena got spiked at the start but recovered well to battle through the crowds to an excellent 17th place on a course that was a litlle short for her. Jed returned brilliantly to form with a 21st place finish, Sam was 47th and Lola 209th.

Johnathan was taking part in the Brutal Duathlon in Swanage – crossed that one off my list straight away, I’m waiting for the ‘Mostly Downhill with a Big Pile of Wool to Jump in’ Duathlon – no results yet for Johnathan……..but he’s not the Pocket Rocket.

Rose Clarke, Carol and Colin ran at the Larma Tree 20 miler. Rose and Carol ran just over 4hrs and had an excellent race – not sure about Colin yet but I am sure that Larma’s don’t grow on trees. Unlike money kids.

Simon C was looking lean and fit at the New Forest Duathlon this morning and posted an excellent 1hr34min finish, suggesting that his training is all on track. And…..despite everyone elses’ efforts, it was Simon who stumbled across the real Pocket Rocket. After Planet X sent the mighty Franster a brand new Exocet on Thursday there was nothing else for the original Pocket Rocket to do than test out her training at the New Forest Duathlon. So how is it going? Not bad – won by a clear 6 minutes in 1hr 23min.

So a good weekend’s racing all round. Just a couple of things left for me to clear up. Distinctive and easy to spot in transition as it is, why is the new Planet X team bike disguised as a police car? And….. exactly what did Cheryl mean when she posted on facebook that she had just been out for a ride on the ‘Pocket Rocket’? :-) Ah, no it’s ok I think she was referring to her very shiny new P2 (doesn’t come in police colours though).

More racing next week fron the juniors in the Bath Duathlon and lots more.
