I’m in danger of being overwhelmed by the volume of race activity on the part of TriPurbeck athletes at the moment…. no,no don’t worry Guy I don’t mean you.

Only just found out that Neil McDermott smashed his only very recently acquired club record marathon time in the Dorset Village marathon with a 2hr 55min time. That was a day after Serena O’Connor posted a pb at the park run of 19.28 – Simon tagged on as well to secure a pb of his own – not that much slower than his daughter :-)

An excellent TriPurbeck showing at Poole Runners first evening series race of the year – bagging plenty of the honours. Serena again ran brilliantly finishing 1st senior female overall even though she won’t be a senior for 4 years or so. Sam Brown – in a similar position – finished 4th overall in the 5k, Marathon McDermott (yes I would have been tired) was 9th, Simon O’Connor 33rd and Johnathan Foot 43rd. In the junior race Lola was the fastest girl with Lily in 4th and Callum McD an excellent 8th overall. I think they all need to calm down a bit.

Turns out some people were actually doing triathlons as well! Peter Fraser finished 70.3 Majorca in 6.28. We await the race report from the big man but reports that the drinking water didn’t quite taste normal are at present unsubstantiated.

Possibly performance of the weekend goes to Chris Kelly who nearly did a triathlon at the UK Powerman in Sherborne – winning his age group (:-)) and recording an excellent 6hr40min time including a 41min 10k to start and a 1hr38min 20k to finish. You finish your tea though Guy.

Milton Abbey Tri for the juniors on Saturday… see you there!
