Serena and Simon O’Connor both took to the sea front at Bournemouth yesterday for the Bournemouth marathon festival 10k – in Serena’s case after a tough swim set with the junior squad earlier in the day. No problem for Tripurbeck’s Serena as she stormed to a very quick 37min29sec time to win the ladies race outright, a time that would have been faster than 9 of the finishers in the London 2012 women’s triathlon………… be afraid! Simon also ran brilliantly to post a new pb a shade over 41 minutes and nice that Serena was there to watch a good deal of his race from the finish area :-)

The O’Connors were also in action at the Haus triathlon last weekend with Serena coming 4th overall lady – whilst posting the fastest run split in the race…. no not the ladies, the whole race!

Also in action in the Hever castle Junior tri was Jed Skilton who finished an excellent 2nd in a very strong field of 212 athletes… so 2nd seems rather good! Only the very fast running Sam Cheeseman stopped Jed from finishing on top of the pile. John also raced at Hever in the standard event finishing 309th out of 1092 which was, coincidentally, the year that Lincoln Cathedral was consecrated (these posts are nothing if not educational I think you’ll agree) or if you prefer……. a bit of a mash up in the swim start.

Fantastic results from the TriPurbeck juniors again. Some of them will be racing at the Osprey Sprint this weekend and they are all back in training as the junior squad sessions have started up again!
