3 of our finest junior athletes took part in the Bowood triathlon on Saturday in a regional qualifying event and all performed brilliantly. It’s a bit difficult to decipher the results but I think we have it sussed now. Jed Skilton was 3rd in the Tristar 3 drafting event characterised by his usual super fast run split. Serena O’Connor continued to build on her excellent current form with 4th place in the youth drafting event in her first drafting race – again producing very fast bike/run splits. Finally Lily Burnet also recorded great bike and run splits despite a tricky swim to finish in the top 10 in her race.

Up North somewhere, Dave Pratten and Simon Carvisiglia were competing in the Le Mans 24 hour race except it wasn’t in Le Mans and didn’t involve cars. Apparently they ran 160 miles in 24 hours in teams. That sounds fairly impressive to me although I’m still slightly confused about why there weren’t any cars and it would be more impressive if they’d done 24hrs swimming then 24hrs biking before they got onto the run – it is, after all, a triathlon club chaps.

Derek, in the meantime, was improving his already impressive Bristols. Yes the Bardster was in action in the Bristol Harbourside triathlon, improving his time by a massive 5 minutes on last year including a ripping 32min bike split for 20km. I’m putting this down to his new tt bike and it’s revolutionary oval wheels- see pic.
