Yes in a surprising turn of events some club members have actually been racing in triathlons including water and everything….. seems like I’ve been talking about running races and duathlons for ever……..

Adam was in action in the Opsrey sprint – an excellent 1hr10min finish despite not enjoying the swim. The inspirational Terri Owen was up next in her first ever triathlon. Also loving the swim….. Terri posted a superb 1hr 16min finish in the Wimborne Tri a Tri – a fantastic achievement after just a few short months of training. So on to a man who always loves a good swim, and the now legendary Derek Bardsley was warming up for the upcoming World Championships in Spain with a podium finish at the national sprint triathlon championships at the Big Cow (no that’s the name of the event).

Colin Chalmers continues to improve at a very fast rate with a top 10 (I think) finish on the army triathon champs – he’s racing very fast!

Lots more actual triathlon coming up with the mighty, but broken, Franster, the tanned (?!?) but broken Mark Julier, Clodie and Evan all racing in the Grafman National Middle Distance Champs this weekend.

And now…….. back to the running and duathlons. Some of the junior squad raced last weekend in the Bath Duathlon (Southwest Champs). Iris Courtney and Max raced the Tristar 2 race – Iris picking up a top 10 finish in her first big event and she is young in the category. Max enjoyed his race but was hampered by a nasty rugby injury which slowed him up. Annie and Ellie both raced Tristar 3 finishing 11th and 13th respectively.

Fresh from racing elite for GB juniors, Serena smashed her 5k pb at the Dorset track finals at the weekend posting an extraordinary 17min32sec. Lola also ran a pb in the 1500m of 5min13sec and Sam won both the 400m and 800m titles with a pb in the 400m.

Last word this time though goes to Crazy Liz Goldsack who accidentally (I have to assume) entered 3 marathons in 3 weeks (this is not to be recommended kids). First up in Brighton Liz broke her pb before following it up with a second pb in 2 weeks at the London marathon clocking a shade over 3hr30min. Perhaps even more impressively, she ran 3hr32min in the Dorset Village marathon the following week on a very hilly course. Very impressive – imagine if Liz were to add a bit of swimming and biking to her repertoire…………..
