Headlines go to the multi-sporters this weekend with excellent results for Russ Carr (4th overall and an age group win) and Adam Raymond (17th overall and 3rd in age group) at the Brutal Duathlon – a straight forward flat Duathlon in Swanage (one out of three of those facts is actually correct – you have to figure out which……… i’ll give you a clue….. look at the name of the race!) Meaqnwhile James Rich posted a 7th place in the sprint race – racing for the first time under the TriPurbeck banner – Fin and Max say ‘well done Mr Rich’).

On to the running (you people will need to add some water and wheels soon):

A distinct lack of a comprehensive results service from the inter counties cross country where Serena, Sam and Lola were racing but we do know that the super swift Serena posted another amazing results coming in 3rd in the under 17 girls – brilliant again!

Claude left his bike….. err wherever he leaves it these days……. and ran himself to a pb in the Weymouth 10k, improving all the time and some he’s going to start some serious swim training :-)

At the Larmer Tree running event, no Van Morrison this time, but there were lots of club members in action over various distances. Stand out performance was Liz Goldsack’s 9th in the marathon (also flat like the duathlon earlier) and some great shot of Rose and her running buddies! Here’s Rose’s account of the race……

They are TOUGH races – the marathon was actually around 26.5 miles with 2300 ft of elevation, the 20 Mile race was 21 miles (2000 ft of elevation) and the Half marathon was about 13.5 miles (1400ft of elevation).

The weather was absolutely perfect, chilly and a bit misty when we set off but the sun burned through and showed off the spectacular views (the type that you only get after a very long climb!)

Liz ran the full marathon and finished in an incredible 4:09, she breezed past me looking fresh as a daisy when I was struggling up a massive hill at around 15 miles (she’d done 21 at that point).

Simon and Clare both did the half – Simon finishing in 02:11 and Clare in 02:42

I did the 20, I wasn’t sure if I was going to even make the start line as Elliot and my husband both had a really nasty bout of flu last week and I was feeling decidedly ropey on Saturday but as I felt okay on Sunday I thought I’d give it a go and apart from a bit in the middle where my sudafed wore off I really loved it. I finished in 4:24 with a nice stripy runners tan!

I don’t think any of us partook of the vodka, schnapps or cider at the 15 mile ‘lovestation’ but I found the squash, crisps and toilet very welcome!
