What a week for the TriPurbeck team. All the low down from Bournemouth in a minute but first….. hats off to Jason Roberts who decided that he needed a better view and led a team of climbers up Kilimanjaro – reached the summit on Tuesday or Wednesday I believe – must be amazing.

Jack McD was in action racing at the Dorset County Athletics coming in 4th in the 600m – brilliant running, and we’re all looking forward to see Jack in a full triathlon event as he is strong swimming, biking and running!

Richie and Liz were riding in the Macmillan bike ride - Richie did 6hr16min for 100 miles, carrying on some good form from Wimbleball  - still waiting to hear about Liz.

And then there was Bournemouth. In an attempt to make myself look good I decided to enter the sprint race and promptly got beaten soundly by 3 girls and a whole load of blokes although it did come with the advantage of being able to chill out and watch the main event and I was fairly pleased with my new swim hat. It was an amazing morning and the weather brought out some great TriPurbeck performances in the Olympic race. Mandy put in another landmark performance, completing her first ever open water 1500m sea swim. Peter recovered brilliantly from ‘garmin shock’ in the swim leg to post a pb by 6 minutes at Bournemouth and the pre race words of encouragement from Peter and John were much appreciated by Mandy. John showed that early season marathon running has put him in good nick for the olympic events to come and a 1hr10min bike split is not too shabby at all. Meanwhile, the Franster put allcomers to the sword winning the ladies event by a clear margin despite a heavy weeks training and goodness knows we need another bike computer – thanks conceptsport!

So mucho excitement all round and there is plenty more to come. The kit should arrive tomorrow, Derek and Neil are racing at the Purbeck Triathlon on Sunday and Fran is doing the Bustinskin Middle as a ‘training event’.
