You can tell it’s the very end of the triathlon season when the titles of the posts get a bit odd.

Harley Taylor is not in the business of stopping the swimming stuff yet though as he stormed to another excellent win in his age group at the Ferndown junior triathlon and he didn’t even look chilly! Still with the juniors and Iris and Lucy Courtney along with Eleanor Mowbray were racing national qualifiers for biathlon. In case you don’t know what biathlon is, it’s a bit like an aquathlon with a very long transition. Great day for Iris who qualified for the national finals with a 5th place finish and Lucy ran an excellent 6min mile to finish 26th in her category. Not sure where Eleanor finished yet but she looked like she was going very well indeed in the photos (see our twitter stream!) Great credit also to the Courtney and Mowbray support crews who, if my memory serves me correctly, will have spent about 6 hours at the venue for about 10mins of racing :-)

The Studland Stampede on Sunday featured an array of TriPurbeck athletes with some real stand out running performances. Liz Goldsack was  in contention for a series win going into the race and finished an excellent 4th in 58.39 and first vet (this relates to her age rather than anything to do with looking after animals I understand). A second place series finish for Liz is testament to her excellent form this year and consistent running. Russ Carr was 4th overall in the men’s race in 47.57 just a minute back from the leader – brilliant. Other times appear below but a special mention to Rose Clark who continues to knock minutes off all of her previous pbs – this time posting an excellent 1hr17min. Apologies of I’ve missed anyone out……

Charlie Tipper 59.03

Jon Foot 61.13

Tim Stone 72.19

Clair McDermott 81.54

Finally Guy was limbering up for a good winter block of training before joining me in a bit of 70.3 racing next season (look I’ve said it now – we’ll have to do it) by racing in an adventure race that involved obstacles and a river swim. Cold. I’m slightly concerned that he said, and I quote, that he felt like ‘a ferrari going round the course compared to most of the others’. I need to either start training properly or hope that it’s a reflection on the other people racing…….. 70.3 Vichy on Aug 27th Guy?
